Some of the deepest moments of my own practice have come not from doing anything at all, but simply from sitting. This reflection came from one of those moments — a quiet sitting practice where stillness became its own kind of teacher.
In the stillness of it all, I sit with the intention of sitting. As I sit, I simply allow whatever is to be with me. I follow the flow of my breath, and my awareness. That’s all I can do. I can only be.
Finding My Sanctuary
It’s in the stillness of it all that I find myself drifting into the place I call my sanctuary. This is where I sit in peace, and where I discover calmness. Slowly, I become aware that all the answers are already here.
As I enter the silence, my mind may wander to questions. Sometimes I have none. Other times, I have so many.
Rising Above the Ego
As I rise above the ego, my energy begins to flow, and I settle into ease. In these moments, I become one with everything, and everywhere. I feel the outside of me enter the inside of me, and the inside of me enter the outside. Eventually, I cannot even feel the beat of my own heart.
I am aware that I’ve entered what they call the gap. And still, I love how open it feels.
A Place Without Judgment
In the stillness of it all, I sit in the flow, and awareness appears. It shows me things I already know — things that only show up here, in the present. Everything that exists in this sanctuary carries no judgment. Instead, this place holds more beauty, compassion, and love than anywhere I have ever experienced. It comes from above.
As I sit in the stillness of it all, I know I can fly so high that I cannot fall. In this space, I feel free, and here, I discover I can truly be me.
Coming Back to the Breath
To sit in the stillness is where I go to discover my breath, my beauty, and my flow — together, my body, my mind, and my soul.
Sit in the stillness of it all, and you will discover these moments. You will heal. You will see.
Stillness like this isn’t something we stumble into by accident. It’s a practice, one breath and one sitting at a time, and it’s always available to us the moment we’re ready to return to it.
